What to Expect in 2024 Interior Design

The world of interior design is an exciting place to be right now. It’s buzzing with trends that are fresh and ready to revolutionize the blend of aesthetics, modern, vintage, colour, comfort and truly everything that makes a house feel like a dream home.

This year, trends are marked by an appreciation for nature, a love for vibrant colours, and a focus on comfort. It’s not just about how our homes look, it’s also about how we experience our homes.

Here’s a look at the 2024 trends you need to keep your eye on.

Interior Trends

  • Expect a surge in botanical and floral patterns across wallpapers, bedding, and upholstery textiles. These elements aim to bring the tranquillity and beauty of the outdoors inside. Complementing this trend are loose floral arrangements and greenery.

  • Adding wood to your space, especially accent walls with wood tambour strips applied floor to ceiling, cabinetry, side tables, walls, mantels and accessories is making a statement this year. When implementing wood in your interior design, consistency doesn’t have to be “key.” Mixing different wood species whimsically emulates a forest. Secondhand finds and vintage pieces are a great way to be economical and blend different types of wood in your decor.

  • Incorporating antiques into modern homes adds a unique charm, especially in kitchens and bathrooms. An antique table is on point when repurposed into a unique island with butcher block on top. A sideboard or hutch can make a stylish storage solution. In the bathroom, a dresser can be turned into a vanity or an old wardrobe can become a linen tower that brings a touch of elegance and history.

  • Adding brushed gold faucets to create a vintage look, matte stone surfaces and steam shower upgrades to your bathroom to turn it into a dream luxury hotel bathroom is in. Pair this with luxe patterned towels and you’ve got yourself an experience that will leave your guest in awe.

  • If luxury bathrooms aren’t your vibe, think of the comforts of a spa-inspired space. Your bathroom design can reflect your personality and be a space that supports your wellness and lifestyle. Consider incorporating soft lighting, natural textures and biophilic elements such as live plants to create a retreat that soothes and rejuvenates.

  • Custom kitchens have sparked excitement. Appliances like combination steam speed ovens and full-size cabinet-ready luxury fridges/freezers/wine storage that are built in, enhance the stylish appearance of your kitchen and suit the needs of your busy life are taking over kitchen design. Walk-in pantry rooms with fully concealed or fancy doors are a lovely addition to larger kitchen spaces.

The Trending Palette (and Patterns)

  • Pantone named their colour of the year: Peach fuzz. Warm peach tones spread their way through wall paint, fabrics, cabinets and tile. This colour scheme will evoke sumptuous comfort in your home.

  • Earthy colours, also fantastic in their ability to warm your space, are making strides. Terracotta, green and dark brown are very grounding colours that also provide depth and will be trending in homes this year.

  • Metallic finishes are masters of shine and sparkle and will be a highlight feature in many homes. They provide an edge to countertop stone, sheen finishes in cabinetry hardware, and fabric (especially with flecks of shiny threading).

  • Patterns are everywhere. When it comes to interiors, they add a maximalist contrast to a minimalist space. Floral artwork can be breathtaking on gallery walls while furniture with quirky patterns breaks the monotony.

This year is about creating spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also deeply comforting and reflective of personal style. The integration of nature through botanical patterns, the warmth of mixed wood elements, and the luxurious touch of classic decorative details all contribute to spaces that feel both contemporary and timeless.

The shift towards personalization is evident in custom kitchens and spa-inspired bathrooms, making our homes not just places to live, but sanctuaries tailored to our individual needs and tastes. The trending palette of earthy, happy colours and metallic finishes adds a dynamic and vibrant layer to our interiors, ensuring that our homes are not just visually stunning but also spaces that evoke joy and tranquillity.

We're not just following the latest in design, we're crafting environments that celebrate comfort, nature, and unique personalities, making 2024 a year of truly inspired living.
